This week the goal was to discuss 2011 mtv awards the environment in which the book "Let the Right One In" by John Ajvide Lindqvist is located. Which environments where and why the author chose those particular areas. Although the time was discussed, when we find ourselves? 2011 mtv awards Why? Until Will it clear in this particular book when and where we are?
The book is written as it unfolds in a few suburbs of Stockholm. One area that is both interesting for us here in Skåne but also something that may not appeal as much. Since it is in Sweden, one can recognize themselves sometimes and compare 2011 mtv awards with other suburbs, even if one has been on the scene as Lindqvist takes up as he describes the careful and thorough. He takes it very exciting and unpleasant in the story so that he gets a shiver when he describes the sites as they are described as dark and cold. There are also some discomfort in them. He has chosen to take up the suburbs outside central Stockholm 2011 mtv awards Blackeberg example, they are then also georeferenced. Suburbia is not fictional and in real life, which also means that you get a more realistic picture of the book. Had they not been written into / in a place that is real, the story does not have the same feel as real environment is carefully thought out. It makes a lot of me because the author wants to get a picture so real as possible. The question is perhaps the author has a personal connection to these places because it seems if he carefully selected them?
The time is also important in the book and it goes very slowly. If the time had been in the book would have been very difficult to know when one was because it did not make giant-sized excerpt just 80s. Sometimes it makes sense that you should not know either, because then you will get the idea that this can only happen in the 80's when the book is set. Since there is so little time in the book, really only a couple of weeks it might be good to remind yourself sometimes and know what time it is i in the beginning, I did not really take in what time it was, but thought it went much further period than it had gone.
According 2011 mtv awards to me, the author describes Blackeberg and the other suburbs such Vällingbyvägen as dark and boring. It should not be such a positive look at how it is there. I would not have wanted to live there given how boring it is described as. This affects me and us because you get a glance of what it is like to live in such a place and be involved as much as everyone is in the book.
Good summary of our discussion. We talked a lot about the time and how quickly the book actually takes place on. It's almost unrealistic that so much can happen in so few days! The place is described indeed as dark, cold, and sometimes unpleasant, but the author makes the descriptions in a skilful way that makes the suburbs seem like a pretty interesting 2011 mtv awards place, according to me. However, I have been a part of Stockholm, since I have family there, so I already had an idea of what it looks like. Time is interesting 2011 mtv awards in the aspect that you can not clearly see that it's 80 it's about. What I clearly associate 2011 mtv awards with the 80s is color and crazy hairstyles, and none of it stands out especially in the book! Reply Delete
You have made a good summary of our discussion and really got the most important thing. It was exciting to read your own reflections as you added in the beginning. I agree with you that it connects the suburbs to their places due. empathy. Although it is more realistic to us that it is precisely in Sweden and the surroundings are places that are real. A book about vampires easily become unreal but Ajvide Lindqvist manages to keep it realistic. Time unfolds, just like you said, very slowly, and I, like you, did not notice it at first. However, 2011 mtv awards it became 2011 mtv awards clearer the further into the book you came, or what did you think? Maybe it's because more and more happened in only 24 hours? It was very interesting to read your post! Reply Delete
Interesting discussion and fun to read. As you mention one forgets completely off while reading that everything that happens in the book happens in such a short time. I think this suggests that Lindqvist is very good at writing 2011 mtv awards and provide detailed events but that they still think the book goes quickly 2011 mtv awards into the future. I also think it's good, if you do not know it already, you do not feel that the book is set in the 80s. I have not thought so much about the book would probably thought it was even sadder to read it if you actually knew that it takes place thirty years ago! That's a big plus that you might think that the book is still relatively in our time. Reply Delete
