When I got the offer to read Winter Apples by Sundström, as explained publishing it because they wanted the book to get more readers; many might have missed seeing what a great book it was. I loved the book and was glad to have had the chance to discover it. It is doubtful that I had chosen it without getting a nudge in the right direction (= a book sent home in the mail). Now I am a bit concerned about all the people really have taken that Sundstrom has come out with a new book - and for a good while ago, because it's in paperback now ... I had missed! Boel and Oscar is the new book, and it is hardly surprising if just Boel and Oscar. Boel is a young woman who moves into the old bank building which many years ago was converted into condominium apartments. She is certainly aware of what a beautiful house she lives in, but she can not appreciate anything in life anymore. She is so deeply hurt and depressed that she can hardly exist anymore. It is sad. Oscar has lived in the house ever since the day when the apartments were completed. In his active working days were Oscar architect, and it is he who has drawn on banking house to apartments. He can house inside and out, and is keen to preserve its individual character and beauty. He now lives alone in her apartment. The wife is at home, and has wandered over to oblivion meadows. Both Oscar and Boel has things to deal with. Difficult things have happened, but the slump makes Boel and Oscars paths cross - and suddenly they start to slide into each other's lives. It turns out that Oscar can show Boel a path to understanding and forgiveness, and also that Boel can do the same for Oscar. It is a book of gentle pace, with people who may own lives. The characters feel real, and I like to Sundstrom moves across the generations. Language is just right, which also helps that it's restful vma 2007 nice to let himself be drawn into the story of Boel and Oscar in the old house. It is not the external events that are of interest in this book, really - but it is what happens vma 2007 inside people. Well, you know. So there as it is in most of the really good books. I do not have much more to say, I think. Read!
I have read "Winter Apples" and thought a lot about it. I probably would not have chosen it myself, but gave it to my mom and was pleasantly surprised. Maybe you should read this too? Reply Delete
