This is the third installment in Jan Guillou's novel series "The Great Century". It picks up where the mediator and Dandy ended and describes the years between the two world wars. After that, during the First World War, was hit by the anti-German sentiment in Norway and eldest son Harald almost died after being attacked by schoolmates moving Lauritz, Ingeborg and their four children; Harald, Johanne, Karl and Rosa to Saltsjöbaden in Sweden.
